“Empower yourselves with a good education, then get out there and use that education to build a country worthy of your boundless promise.”
― Michelle Obama
I learned from an early age that having a good education would shape and mold my future. My parents always emphasized how important acquiring a Bachelors’s degree would be for my future. They never went to college and so this was a gift of ‘love’ for them.
The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow.

These experiences that you will read here on my blog will highlight the many stories of students and young professionals who have worked assiduously to gain what they have accomplished to date. I hope these stories will inspire you in your daily circumstances whether good or bad and give you hope towards your future.
“I believe school is like Art, you have to learn to perfect it to become great at it.”
Education is of paramount importance to almost every young millennial but this is not the only interest that sparks their attention. There is more to life than just school. Can an individual appreciate life without a balance of leisure and school? Of course not! As a young professional, I am tasked with daily mind provoking thoughts that I need to find a balance between work and school. There is no easy way to find a balance in your daily life. I struggled with this aspect of my life during my first semester at Columbia University. I remember I was in tears the few weeks of school because I could not get my life under control.
I was experiencing a whirlwind of emotions, tasks, anxiety attacks and you better believe some preschool tantrums. Not exactly preschool tantrums but minor bursts of things falling apart. I felt like I was in someone else life playing their role. I often time asked myself, What am I doing here? Is this worth it? Would you believe that the answer to that question was always yes? I would then laugh and remind myself that no career in life was accomplished overnight. It took the ‘graveyard’ shift as many health professionals would call it. This would mean less sleep and not enough time in 24 hours to get all my tasks done.
Life, while you are still in graduate school, can comprise more than just studying and staying at home. I spent some time exploring, cafes, parks, and museums in the city. The only thing that I did not do much of was shopping. We all know that graduate students have really small budgets!
