You have entered our lives like a WHIRLWIND, destroyed it like a HURRICANE and uprooted it like a TORNADO. This is our new normal- COVID19. We are learning about ourselves, spending more time with our families and hopefully practicing social distancing. Can we adjust to this new normal? What will happen down the road? These are all questions I ponder about daily since being home for the last two weeks. Since the spread of COVID19, I have been at home trying to adjust to the new normal of what is to come. I have found new books to read, created a variety of playlists on Spotify, watched travel vlogs on youtube and even found some new cooking recipes. I know this is a challenging time for everyone so I just wanted to share a list of things to occupy your time during this long haul of what they call ‘ the quarantine period’.
- Netflix(binge-watch some great series)
- Hulu(catch up on all the shows that work or studying kept you from).
- Youtube(watch travel or cooking vlogs)
- Spotify(create a playlist, share with friends and family)
- Practice Yoga or Meditation
- Cooking- find some new recipes if you enjoy cooking
- Call friends on facetime or video chat
- Paint and Sip at home with family
- Sewing
- Clean and organize areas of your house that you did not have time for before.
- Read a new book or two!
- Exercise(Youtube)- find a friend or family member and get moving
- Put on a face mask
- Self-Care(Run a bath with some baths bombs)
- Read your children or niece and nephew a story
- Create a blog
- Write to your friends, keep communication flowing
- Abstract Art( try painting something even if Art isn’t your niche)
- Make a silly video and share with your friends(Laughter is good)
- Read your bible(if that gives you hope)
- Pop a bottle and pour yourself some wine, or better yet, if you are a beer person, try that too.
- Take the dogs for a walk(there is barely anyone outside)
- Bake and put some music on(lemon cookies are my favorite:)
- Stay hydrated, take your vitamins(NOW THIS IS KEY!)
- And if none of this spikes your curiosity then stay in bed and put your legs up…………..
Really good tips and encouragement to stay home as this is what we need to keep the spread of COVID-19 at it’s minimum. As a healthcare worker, I don’t have the opportunity to do this but will always take the opportunity to educate others about this virus and balanced (physical, emotional and social) ways to remain healthy, especially mentally while staying indoors. Thanks Jhan, I enjoyed reading this post.

Thanks Yanique. This is such a difficult time for everyone and I hope this will give someone some ideas to be more comfortable at home. I appreciate all the work you doing out there.
Thanks for the quarantine tips.
Thank you for these helpful tips ! While I may not be able to self quarantine I know a lot of my friends and other family members are struggling with keeping themselves preoccupied while staying in doors. I also hear numerous complaints on homeschooling and all it’s challenges, I would love to get some perspectives from teachers who have specialized in this area. Thank you again for the post !
